Hasta la vista

So Bush’s “brain” will leave office at the end of the month. After all the damage Karl Rove has wreaked upon this country, that’s IT? He simply walks away? As John Edwards said about the matter: “Goodbye. Good riddance!”

Lest you start getting misty, here are a few choice quotes from the master puppeteer:

ON VOTING
As people do better, they start voting like Republicans – unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing.

ON 9/11
Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.

ON THE IRAQ WAR
Cindy Sheehan is a clown. There is no real anti-war movement. No serious politician, with anything to do with anything, would show his face at an anti-war rally.

ON DEMOCRATS
I think it’s dawning on some Democrats that obstructing the Patriot Act, like they’ve been obstructing everything else, is bad for them politically. At the core, we are dealing with two parties that have fundamentally different views of the world and fundamentally different views on national security. Republicans have a post-9/11 view of the world, and Democrats have a pre-9/11 view of the world.

  1. “It was this week in 1974 that Richard Nixon resigned the presidency after getting caught lying and violating the Constitution. Remember when that kind of thing used to get you kicked out of office?” -Jay Leno

Nixon’s resignation … Mata Hari’s birthday … Hiroshima … Woodstock … Castro’s birthday … The King dies …. Geez, what a month August has been in history! Now we can add TurdBlossomRovemortBush’sBrainThe ArchitectBoyGeniusEvilGenius resigns. Yeah, you heard me … that evil, twisted, sinister piece of crap who admired Nixon when he was a mere 9-year-old and started his career of dishonesty and treachery, has jumped ship. Quit. Resigned. Abandoned home. Left. Stepped down. Called it quits.

So what’s he gonna do? Same thing all of the Chimp’s quitters do? “Spend more time with my family”? That’s a pile of crap, and you know it as well as anybody else knows it. Finish college perhaps? Write his memoirs and tell us he accepts his gay stepfather? Maybe apologize for using a fake ID to enter the HQ of a treasurer of Illinois, steal campaign letterhead and send out 1000 invitations to the campaign headquarters opening with the promise of “free beer, free food, girls, and a good time.”? Wow, what a riveting read that will be, from errand boy for George HW to the nation’s Hemorrhoid-in-Chief.

“I’m a myth,” he said. “There’s the Mark of Rove. I read about some of the things I’m supposed to have done and I have to try not to laugh.” Yeah, asshole, laugh all the way to the bank once you hit the speakers’ circuit and charge out the wazoo to regale audiences with your evil words.

And why now? Perhaps to cast our attention away from this little bit o’ news:
The US is preparing to bring in legal changes giving Attorney General Alberto Gonzales new powers to limit the time inmates spend on appeal on death row.
